Hi everyone, welcome back to palacedaughter. Today , I will discuss Truth and Trends. I am sure you will find it interesting as I take you on a journey of what truely matters and what does not. It is important to note that its easier to flow with trends than truth but what really matters…
Truth is priceless because it carries a weight of intelligence and empathy; however, people choose trends over truth because they prefer to be liked over being respected. The fact is the society loves being pampered with lies but you have to be sincere with yourself. Tell yourself the truth so that you can advocate it to others.Virginia Woolf said “If you do not tell the truth about yourself, you cannot tell it about other people”. Truth starts with you. How? When you make conscious effort to speak the the/your truth despite the fleeting numbers of lies the society has bombarded you with in this world of social media where everything trending becomes the truth even if it’s a lie. Yevgeny Yevtushenko said “When truth is replaced by silence, the silence is a lie”.
Be bold enough to embrace the truth. Dorothy Allison said “Things come apart so easily when they have been held together with lies”. In as much as trend keeps you apprised, truth keeps you relevant.
“A liar can be popular but only for a season when the truth hasn’t being revealed. Nothing hunts more like lie” – Similoluwa Babafemi.
“Regardless of the popular literary trend of the times, write the thing which lies close to your heart.”
― Bess Streeter Aldrich
“A life of lies is never a memorable one but a life of truth is remarkable”-Similoluwa Babafemi
“Lies may win you likes but not respect”- Similoluwa Babafemi
“Popular culture is a place where pity is called compassion, flattery is called love, propaganda is called knowledge, tension is called peace, gossip is called news, and auto-tune is called singing.”
― Criss Jami, Killosophy
“Embrace the truth, you have nothing to lose. Embrace lie, you are on the way to losing yourself”_ Similoluwa Babafemi
In conclusion, anything trendy should be examined with the truth. Is it right? Is it appropriate? Is it wisdom? Is it wise? Is it honest? Is it just?
Thanks for reading.
