Thou art worthy, O lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Revelations 4:11

All that God created as recorded in Genesis chapters 1 and 2 were created for His pleasure. He created man in His own image and likeness Genesis 1:26 for His own glory. Isaiah 43:7. The man created by God soon rebelled against his maker given in to the deceiver, the devil who strips man of his glory and dignity. Genesis 2:1-6. The book of Revelations chapter 12 gave the account of how the deceiver, the devil was cast out of heaven into the earth. The devil deceived man to eat from the tree God commanded man not to eat, Genesis 2:16-17, and as a result of this the human race was cursed, death passed upon all men Genesis 3:16-19, Romans 5:12; (….by man came death….) 1 Corinthians 15:21.

Plans for Man’s Salvation

Since the fall of man, God planned how man will be restored, reconciled back to him. First, He shed the blood of an animal to make the coats of skin for Adam and Eve Genesis 3:21 signifying that there must be shedding of blood for the remission of sin “……and without shedding of blood is no remission” Hebrews 9:22. Secondly, God called Abram Genesis 12:1-3, changed his name to Abraham Genesis 17:5, made an everlasting covenant with him Genesis 17:7 and blessed him  “ And in thy seed shall nations of the earth be blessed….” Genesis 22:18. The Lord Jesus Christ is that seed that was made a curse for us “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us:” Galatians 3:14.

Life by Jesus Christ

In John 10:10, the Lord said “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” The reason Christ came is to restore back to us the life that was lost right in the Garden of Eden. He does this by taking upon Himself the form of a servant Philippians 2:7; taking part in flesh and blood Hebrews 2:14. He paid the ultimate price by sacrificing Himself through the eternal Spirit unto God Hebrews 9:14, Philippians 2:8, shed His own blood as a propitiation Romans 3:25; the whole weight of God’s righteous judgement for man’s sin put on Him Isaiah 53:10 thereby pacifying the wrath of God towards man Ephesians 2:4-7, John 20:17.

It is only in Christ Jesus that we can obtain life. That is why John said “in Him was life” John 1:4 and that anyone who believes in Him will have everlasting life. John 3:15-21, 1 John 5:11-12.

The Last Days

God sent His only begotten Son to the world in the last days. Surprised? Hear what the writer of Hebrews said “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;” Hebrews 1:1-2. God knows many have spoken and many will still speak which was the reason He testified concerning His Son and affirmed that “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” Matthew 17:5, Mark 9:7, Luke 9:35.

Before departing to be with His father, the Lord made known to us incidences that cannot but happen in these last days before he returns Matthew 24:1-36, Mark 13:1-32, Luke 21:1-36. The Apostles in some of their epistles, also mentioned some of these incidences. Apostle Paul (1 Timothy 4:1-3, 11 Timothy 3:1-9), Apostle Peter (11 Peter 2:1-22) and Apostle John (1 John 2:18-19). All these are telling us that we need someone who will see us through these last days. Who is He? The Holy Spirit.

The Need for the Holy Spirit

Centuries before the Holy Spirit given, prophecies that the Holy Spirit will be given to man had gone forth. Isaiah 44:3, Ezekiel 36:27, Ezekiel 37:14, Ezekiel 39:29, Joel 2:28-32, Micah 3:8. Peter in his sermon on the day of Pentecost said the prophesy of prophet Joel is what was fulfilled. Acts 2:17-21. The Lord Jesus from conception to his resurrection depended on the Holy Spirit. His conception was by the Holy Ghost Luke 1:35, His ministry was through the power of the Holy Spirit Acts 10:38, His death on the cross was through the Holy Ghost Hebrews 9:14, His resurrection was through the Holy Ghost Romans 8:11. Jesus Christ need the Holy Spirit to succeed on earth because He was a man Hebrews 2:14, 16 and He was given the Spirit without measure John 3:34. If Jesus could not succeed without the Holy Spirit, then who are we? Therefore, men need the holyspirit to succeed also.

Jesus told his disciples that they will receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon them Acts 1:8 but they should tarry at Jerusalem till they receive the power Luke 24:49. He told them (we inclusive) he will ask the father who will give them another comforter to abide with them forever John 14:16. He told them the Spirit will dwell in them and be in them John 14:17. He told them the Holy Spirit will teach them all things and make them remember all things John 14:26. He told them the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth John 15:26 who will guide them into all truth John 15:13. Why all these? Because He knows the hard trials that His followers will faced John 16:1-3. He knows that the enemy will wage war against the saints Daniel 7:21, Matthew 24:7. He knows that false prophets and teachers will arise 1 Peter 2:1. He knows that the spirit of antichrist will one day be in operation 1 John 4:3.  That is why the Holy Spirit has been given to us to teach us the truth, to guide us into all truth and to be a seal on us that we belong to God Ephesians 1:13, 4:30.

The Holy Spirit is there to help us Zechariah 4:6, to see us through these last days preparing us as a glorious church without spot and wrinkle Ephesians 5:27. For you to have the Holy Spirit, you need to know the giver of the Spirit. How? By believing and accepting the Lord Jesus as your Lord and Saviour for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, with the mouth confession is made unto salvation Romans 10:10. The Lord is standing at the door knocking Revelations 3:20. Open to Him so that He by the Holy Spirit may dwell in you Ephesians 3:16-19.

I/You/We need the Holy Spirit to succeed in life, to make it through these last days, to make it home back to our maker and to be among the overcomers who will sing the song of redemption before the throne of God Revelations 14:1-3.
